Kaimondake, an active volcano with an altitude of 924m, is located at the southernmost tip of the Satsuma Peninsula.
Rapeseed flowers are in full bloom every year from late December to early February on the shores of Lake Ibusuki.
This yellow carpet symbplizes Kagoshima, a sup-tropical region and the arrival of early spring: it weaves a beautiful contrast with the clear blue sky against the backdrop of Mt. Kaimondake.

From the observatory on the top of the mountain, you can see a horizontal panorama that makes the earth look round.
