Once in a Lifetime Experience
It is no exaggeration to say that Maiko refers to the full package of every Japanese culture that Kyoto has always cherished:
the dances and songs performed portrays the whole essence of Japanese traditional performing arts, while kimono, obi, and hairpins that they wear represents the Japanese traditional crafts.
Behind Maiko's dazzling appearance, they have to be well-knowledged and skilled in music, dancing, dressing up, tea ceremony rituals, flower arrangement, and not to mention they have to have a classy behavior too. Maiko is truly an epitome of pure, feminine beauty--an ideal Japanese woman with not only beauty but brain and lots of talents too.
One of the highlights from this activity is watching the Maiko perform and the Kaiseki (traditional multi course) dinner. Maiko has a particular conversation technique which can keep the atmosphere lively and filled with Japanese hospitality. Moreover, you can also join interactive games called "Toratora" and "Konpira Fune Fune". Treasure this extraordinary night witnessing Maiko's wide range of skills that have been polished over time.
Savor the delightful atmosphere in the teahouse district where the Maikos are; where it looks like it is straight from a painting from wherever spot you are at. With old-fashion wooden houses, and Japanese paper lamps surrounding the district, perhaps this scenery is something that can only be encountered in Japan. If there is a word that can describe this kind of ambience, it is "Hannari", a word originally from Kyoto. It expresses elegance, gracefulness, and radiance unique to Kyoto--such a word that suits this city very well.
行程のご案内
Using a private van, rejoice the good old townscape that inherits the long history and traditional culture.
Get ready to be moved by its charm, especially when the sun goes down and the lanterns start to lit, it is so magical you will feel like you have traveled back in time to the Edo period.
The district boasts its kaiseki cuisine which uses the finest seasonal ingredients from all over Japan. Not only that it has a great taste, it's another form of art which has been studied since long time ago by the best chefs. Learn more about Japanese culture through this priceless experience, with Maiko's companion.
Maiko will show you the dreamlike experience by dancing to the shamisen's melody.
Their moves will fascinate you especially on how well-preserved Japanese culture is even until today.
Surrounding yourself with the purest form of Japanese arts in one night is without any question an unforgettable way to make the most out of your trip.
It is the classic Edo-themed game played for this occassion. Basically a rock-paper-scissors game, but unlike the typical one, the players have to make a gesture using their whole body imitating a tiger, a samurai, and an old woman instead.
Another quintessential game, where two players face each other and an object is placed in the middle. The goal is to either spread your palm on the object, take it with you, or put your closed fist when the opponent takes it. What makes it challenging is you have to follow the rhythm of the shamisen which eventually gets faster.
Lastly before the activity ends, we will move on to a commemorative photo session with Maiko. Only those who played games with Maiko who will get this chance, so be sure not to miss it. Freeze your precious time with Maiko into a photograph.
